Notary fees in Bulgaria

There is new notary fees after the first of July 2009. In most of the cases for a property deal with value between 25 000 and 50 000 euro the notaries will charge 245 euro plus 0.5% for the amount above 25 000 euro, where the old tax for the same price range was 160 euro plus 0.2% for the amount above 25 000 euro.

With the changes in the law there is a new level of charging - it is for properties with value more than 256 000 euro, for them the notaries charge a fee of 785 euro plus 0.1% for the amount above the 256 000 euro limit and the maximum fee could be 3100 euro.

With the previous fees the biggest fee is for the properties with value higher than 52 000 euro, the tax is 215 euro plus 0.1% for the amount above the 52 000 euro limit, and no more than 1600 euro.

The notaries justify the increase of the fees with the need of online registers of the wills and the powers of attorney with which the whole process will become much more secure.
