Christmas markets in Sofia

Every holiday season, Christmas markets transform the main squares of cities across Europe into winter wonderlands. Wooden huts adorned with twinkling lights and boughs of holly line the streets. In Sofia, from end of November to January, there are many Christmas Markets all around the city. If you want to enjoy the Christmas mood and joy, you can visit them. 

In 2022, there are eleven Christmas Markets in Sofia. The most famous one is the German Christmas Market. Every year it is opening the doors to its visitors in the City Garden, right in the center of Sofia. German Christmas Market is not only for choosing the best Christmas presents but there are food stalls, concerts, exhibitions and many activities organized for children. It is definitely worth to visit.

There are other markets in different parks of Sofia, such as Sofia Christmas Festival in South Park, Christmas Bazaar in North Park and Vazrazhdane Park. Each of them offer different family activities and attractions that you can enjoy no matter how old you are.

This year 49th Sofia International Book Fair opens on 6th of December and the Sofia Literary Festival will be held for the tenth time in a row. The event will take place in The National Cultural Place (NDK) and will be hosting more than 150 publishing houses and stands. 18 foreign authors will be visiting the book fair and visitors will be able to meet them. As it is very well known, a book is a perfect Christmas present.

Also the will be a Christmas concert by Sofia Philharmonic Orchestra on 23rd of December at 7pm in Bulgaria Concert Hall. On the same date and time also Sofia Opera and Ballet has a Christmas Concert in the Chamber Hall.
